Art Lab RX & ANEW
Saint Paul, Minnesota – ANEW Chemical Health Services guides women to and through recovery from addiction. ANEW provides residential and outpatient treatment programs specifically designed to help women recover from their addictions by providing a safe place to call home while offering holistic treatment services and resources.
In November 2022, the PAC team exhibited at the American Art Therapy Association Conference, where we were divinely introduced to Lisa M. Lounsbury of Art Lab Rx. Lisa and the Art Lab Rx team were at the AATA Conference to showcase “Maggie,” their mobile art therapy studio. A symbol of transformation herself, Maggie is a standard-issue coach bus that has been transformed from the inside out – much like someone experiencing the healing power of art therapy. From the moment we stepped onto the bus, we knew something special was in store.
Lisa shared her heart to use Maggie as a ministry, providing art therapy free-of-charge to organizations offering healing and transformation in the Twin Cities and beyond. It was then that we were able to share who we are, Who we serve, and how we bring art therapy programs to life. Our organizations were answers to each others’ prayers.
Over the following months, we were introduced to ANEW Chemical Health Services – an organization that guides women to and through recovery from addiction – and a program was developed. In April 2023, PAC, ANEW, and Art Lab Rx kicked off the first of four six-week cohorts for the women that ANEW serves.
Each program is specifically designed for women recovering from addiction, focusing on topics like emotional literacy, integrity in actions, and more. We will serve 32 individuals receiving outpatient services from ANEW.
We are honored to commission with Art Lab Rx and ANEW in using the arts as a vehicle of healing and hope.
